Thermopower in transition-metal perovskites

چکیده

High-temperature thermopower is interpreted as entropy that a carrier carries. Owing to spin and orbital degrees of freedom, transition metal perovskite exhibits large at high temperatures. In this paper, we revisit the high-temperature in perovskites shed light on freedom. Thus, theoretically derive an expression one-dimensional octahedral-MX6-clusters chain using linear-response theory electronic structure calculation based tight-binding approximation. The derived consistent with extended Heikes formula well reproduced experimental data several oxides expression, degeneracy many electron states octahedral ligand field (which characterized by multiplet term) appears instead degeneracies. Complementarity between our discussed.

Resonant photoemission of transition metal perovskites

12 We discuss the use of resonant photoemission in the study of rare earth/transition metal perovskites and perovskite-related structures. We illustrate its application to the assignment of the RE and TM valence band density of states in Nd2Ni1−xCuxO4 and REBaCo2O5+δ. In both cases, the relative positions of the 4f and 3d contributions within the valence band density of states (DOS) relative to...

Converged GW quasiparticle energies for transition metal oxide perovskites

The ab initio calculation of quasiparticle (QP) energies is a technically and computationally challenging problem. In condensed matter physics the most widely used approach to determine QP energies is the GW approximation. Although the GW method has been widely applied to many typical semiconductors and insulators, its application to more complex compounds such as transition metal oxide perovsk...

High-pressure / High-temperature Synthesis of Transition Metal Oxide Perovskites

Perovskite and related Ruddlesden-Popper type transition metal oxides synthesised at high pressures and temperatures during the last decade are reviewed. More than 60 such new materials have been reported since 1995. Important developments have included perovskites with complex cation orderings on A and B sites, multiferroic bismuth-based perovskites, and new manganites showing colossal magneto...

Critical behaviour of thermopower and conductivity at the metal-insulator transition in high-mobility Si-MOSFETs

This paper reports thermopower and conductivity measurements through the metal-insulator transition for 2-dimensional electron gases in high mobility Si-MOSFETs. At low temperatures both thermopower and conductivity show critical behaviour as a function of electron density. When approaching the critical density from the metallic side the diffusion thermopower appears to diverge and the conducti...

Divergent thermopower without a quantum phase transition.

A general principle of modern statistical physics is that divergences of either thermodynamic or transport properties are only possible if the correlation length diverges. We show by explicit calculation that the thermopower in the quantum XY model d = 1 + 1 and the Kitaev model in d = 2 + 1 can (i) diverge even when the correlation length is finite and (ii) remain finite even when the correlat...
